Here I am writing my very last learning journal on this online portfolio, Star's Avenue.
I will start by catching up the news on the English Classes.
In the 22nd April, the all class got the opportunity to watch " Macbeth" by William Shakespeare, perfomed by " The Avalon Theatre Company". I really enjoyed the dynamic of the theatre, the actors were always " running" and I think they were pretty good. Although at some point, it became a little repetitive.
At first I was going to present my reading project based on John Le Carré's " Call for the Dead", but then we ( João Costa and I) decided to read the shortstory " A Good Man is hard to find" by Flannery O'Connor. I haven't started reading it, but by judging by the research i did about the autor I am pretty sure that I will like it.
Today, I finish the second part of the evaluation test. I didn't find the test very dificult, the only thing where I just could't find imagination on my absent head, was the first writing task. The challenge was to create a story about a teacher that decided to change her carrer. I eventually invented a silly story, that I am not very proud of because I wanted to write something original and funny, but I just couldn't.
In order to finish this last two years in a special and different way, the all class is going to watch " Rope" by Patrick Hamilton, perfomed by " The Lisbon Players" on the Estrela Hall, on the next 21st of May. It seemed a great play, judging by the research I did, and I am looking for to watch it!
So, I guess I should write something special to end this online portfolio, but the words just doesn't come out. But I will try...
It was a diferent chalenge for me to have an online portfolio, I have already had one last year but it was by support paper, and the result was good. I think that I was up to the challenge, most of all I tryed to give the best, and I hope Star's Avenue speaks for itself.
Since the beginning of the year, I wrote fifty-five posts, which include eighteen Learning Journals, ten grammar entries, five vocabulary entries, four entries on " My writing skills", eight " About the" and, finnaly, ten entries on my own section. Although, they involved a lot of hours, it is a really good feeling being proud of my work, of my portfolio.
I know that in the end of every speechs, people usually leave with a special sentence, I didn't know what to say, so I chose a poem that I really love by Maya Angelou:
Touched by an Angel
We, unaccustomed to courageexiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.
Love arrivesand in its train come ecstasie
sold memories of pleasureancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.
We are weaned from our timidityIn the flush of love's light
we dare be braveAnd suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.
