9th Learning Journal

As homework, the teacher asked us to write a text related to our field trip to Lisbon, but we had to put ourselves in a shoes of a person who actually watched us ( the class ). I have choose an old woman, that catched my attention because of her red hair and her little and cute dog, that I called " Pierrôt". So, here it goes :

14.01.09, Wednesday
Dear Diary,
Today, as always, I took a walk, after launch, with " Pierrôt ". So, there I was walking by the streets of Rato, when I suddenly saw a group of some students with two teachers ( I guess ). They were probably from an other city, may be Porto ( ?), because one of the teachers was talking about the buildings and the city.
I think they were about 16, 17 years old, there were five girls and five boys.

Some of them (maybe three) were paying attention to what the teacher was saying, some others were laughing and talking , while two of them were smoking.
By looking at them, you could establish three of the main characteristics of the teenagers.

The two students that were listening to the teacher represent the very few teenagers who actually care about their education and value school. The others who were talking, represent, maybe 50% of the students who just want to spend time with friends, playing videogames, talking online, watching tv and some other stuffs, like if they hadn't nothing else better to do. The other two who were smoking, represent most of the students that try to be something that they are not, and think that they will be accepted by the others if they do the same as them.

It is, actually, a shame to my generation to watch this " lazy generation", where the students don't value the fact that they have a decent place to live in, a school where they can learn all kind of things that will garantee them a sucessful career and also a lot of clothes and distractions.

Bernardete Quintela.
